The Romachair is manufactured from 1" (25.4mm) steel tubing and is designed to carry patients weighing from 190kg/30st in the standard version, 250kg/40st in the mediatric version and 318kg/50st in the heavy duty bariatric version.
The steel frame is seamless with no dirt trapping points. It is coated with our own Romaplas coating which prevents microbial growth. This significant new development will be of particular interest to those involved in infection control.
The Romachair has a footrest that allows it to be stored behind the forward most point of the chair removing the possibility of trapping the feet and lower leg between the footrest and the front castors. Unlike many other sanichairs, the footrest on the Romachair is large enough to accommodate both standard size and bariatric patients in comfort. The Romachair footrest is also placed lower to the ground, the advantage of this is that an occasion arise when a user inadvertently stands on the footplate, the chair will only tip by a few degrees and will not completely upturn possibly causing harm to the user and emptying the contents of the bowl.
The Romachairs' unique patented design allows accessories to be fitted on either side without the need for any tools. This makes the change of use from toileting to showering very quick and easy. This same design feature allows for our Side Transfer Pad to be fitted in seconds and greatly improves the ease and safety for patients carrying out a side transfer manoeuvre. When not required the Side Transfer Pad can be stored on the back of the chair, decreasing the likelihood of it becoming lost or misplaced.
